Carved Potato Instructions

Sweet potatoes glow orange.

Baking potatoes glow yellow.

Here’s what you need:

  • Several nicely shaped potatoes—sweet or regular
  • Carving knife (I used a potato peeler with serrated edges, as well as a serrated knife)
  • Tea lights

Basic Instructions:

Cut the top of the potato and carve a hole in the center. Dig the center of the potato out. Use a sharp knife to cut the eyes and nose. Place the candle inside the potato DONE!

HINT: If the potato doesn’t stand on it’s own, create a level and more stable base by slicing the bottom end off with a large knife.

Apples1

Carved Apple Instructions

Here’s what you need:

  • 3-4 big apples
  • 1 vegetable peeler—dual sided with serrated edges (OR) a sharp, serrated knife
  • 1 apple corer
  • Tea lights

Apples2

Basic Instructions:

Slice the top of the apple and cut out the center with an apple corer. Carve out the inside of the apple—make it wide enough so that you can place a tea light in it. Cut 4 or 5 holes on the sides of the apple with the corer. Set the candle inside and light it. DONE!

NOTE: You can also leave off the top off the apple, but I do enjoy the smell of the apple—when the top is on and heated.
