Classic Homemade Waffles – Haushaltswaffeln
These Classic Homemade Waffles are easy to prepare. Always a favorite for the whole family.
Ingredients for Classic Homemade Waffles:
- 250 g (8.81 oz) of margarine OR butter
- 250 g (8.81 oz) of sugar
- 500 g (17.63 oz) of all purpose flour
- 6 eggs, XL
- 500 ml (16.9 oz) of milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
- grated lemon peel of 1 lemon
- 2 pouches of vanilla sugar OR 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Preparation of the Waffles:
Separate the eggs with an egg separator. Using a handheld mixer beat the egg whites until stiff. In a separate bowl add the egg yolks, sugar, grated lemon peel and vanilla sugar or vanilla extract and mix until creamy. Melt the butter or margarine, add slowly to the egg mixture and beat until smooth.
Mix the flour with baking powder and sift it into a bowl. Alternate between flour and lukewarm milk and add these ingredients into the egg mixture. Fold in the beaten egg whites using a pastry blender.
Heat up a waffle maker. Fill about ½ cup of batter in the waffle maker, close it and bake until golden and crisp.
You can sprinkle some powdered sugar over the finished Waffles and serve them with whipped cream and/or fruit.
