Horseradish Sauce Recipe – Meerrettichsoße
Horseradish Sauce is called Meerrettichsoβe in Germany. This sauce is one of the basic recipes thought in German cooking. It can be served with meat or with fish.
- 4 tablespoons of flour
- 50 g (1.8 oz) of butter
- 600 ml (20.3 oz) of water
- 1 ½ tablespoons of horseradish from a jar OR 2 ½ of freshly grated horseradish root
- 1 cube of Knorr Beef Bouillon
- 2 to 3 dashes of lemon juice
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and mix with a wooden spoon. In a separate bowl crumble the cube of bouillon into the water. Heat it up until the cube of bouillon is dissolved. Slowly add the liquid to the butter mixture while constantly stirring with a whisk. Add the lemon juice and turn the heat off. Add in the horseradish and your sauce is done.
You can serve the sauce with the beef brisket cooked in my beef broth soup, boiled potatoes, and Oma’s Savoy Cabbage and your traditional German Sunday meal is complete.
